Scouting

  • Network Wales - When an Explorer Scout reaches the age of 18, they can join the Scout Network.  Network Wales co-ordinates the Scout Network across the principality, and lots of information can be found here.

  • Freespirit ESU - Freespirit are another Explorer unit based in Cwmbran, who we sometimes do joint activities with.

Campsites

Campsites we have visited in the past or plan to soon:

  • Botany Bay - Gwent's Area campsite
  • Islwyn Scout Parc - near Newbridge, and has an indoor climbing wall
  • Yr Hafod - the Welsh Scout Council's mountain centre in Snowdonia
  • Dolygaer - Bunkhouse in the heart of the Brecon Beacons
  • Jubilee Fields - Back to basics campsite near Cardiff
  • Great Tower - A very large (250 acre!) campsite in the Lake District with fantastic activities, facilities and scenery!

Kit shops

  • Up and Under are based in Canton, Cardiff.  Their shop is a real tardis of outdoor gear.  They sell everything from base layers to boats!  In-store prices are usually below RRP.
  • Cotswold Outdoor are the equipment supplier recommended by the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.  Our nearest store is at Talbot Green, Llantrisant.  Contact the leaders for details of our discount code.
